Research Breakthrough: 3D-Printed Toroidal Inductors Enable Next-Gen Power Densities

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Researchers at **MIT's Power Electronics Research Group have demonstrated the first fully 3D-printed toroidal inductor using a composite material containing suspended magnetic particles. This additive manufacturing technique allows for previously impossible geometries, integrating cooling channels within the core itself. The result is a component that can handle 40% more current in the same volume, paving the way for ultra-compact, high-power aerospace and military power modules.
